A key board
David got my keyboard working on 770. Not perfect but a nice hack.

After using it for a while .... I'm not sure. I want to use my 770 on-the-go. How to use a separate keyboard while using a free wifi spot in a street corner...?

Is the keyboard driver hack available anywhere? Will BT keyboards work too?
I think a better keyboard for the 770 would be a 3rd party clip-on thumb keyboard. ;)
i agree with that. Using the wireless keyboard with the 770 is only practical when you're sitting at a desk.

Not yet (afaik), but it probably will be. And it's not a hack, it's a proper statusbar plugin.
And the keyboard *is* a bluetooth keyboard.

With a proper Keyboard i could imagine to use the nokia 770 as a replacement of my 12" Ibook.I am anxious though about the wireless lan performance because of early negative reports.Surfing with the device should be a snappy experience.
Yes, for a small and predominantly mobile device either plugging with a full-size static keyboard or having to carry a smaller external keyboard isn't really a major use case. A nice feature to have when needed, but doesn't really solve the bigger problem.
For text-intensive devices an integrated hardware keyboard is naturally the way to go. Fortunately the vkb is also pretty ok here. ;)
Actually, the 770 virtual kbd is pretty OK. It learns the words you use and competes them after a few letters, and the wide screen lays out keys pretty nicely.
How about using the "Freedom Mini Keyboard"?
http://www.freedominput.com/
It is the size of a credit card and connects via bluetooth. I don't know how good it is, but at least we know it is portable. Use the Nokia keyboard at home and the "mini" while on the road.
another gadget to play BT keyboard testing game FrogPad
If you're into Linux, there's a good chance you're into the commandline and SSH. I am. I would love to have a device like this, but without a keyboard, I don't think I could justify the purchase.
I had never seen the freedom keyboard until now I think. That might be what I need.
But what would be best is a clip-on keyboard like the one included with the Samsung Nexio. (review)

A clip-on keyboard as thin as 2 credit cards stacked on top of each other, that could also support the weight of the unit, would make it usable for me - and other system administrators that like linux and need to remotely admin systems.
I'm not knocking it - I just would jump at a chance to have this combo.

A small keyboard might be interesting for people writing email on the move. For me, however, a large (foldable) keyboard would be great. My typical usage scanario is taking notes in meetings (and surfing) at different locations. For this a large foldable keyboard and the 770 would be great. No need to carry bulky (1-2kg) notebooks around.
I'm a big fan of the flexible keyboards. They pack up well for travel, are full size, and make devices much more useful. This is even what I use on a laptop, since I don't like the 1.5 inch "step" they have in front. Make one of these usable with the 770 I will be a buyer.
Greetings!
While a lot of people are going to great lengths to get qwerty (and other) keyboards working with all sorts of portable devices, such as the 770, I wonder if we aren't being just a bit old-fashioned.
I see students in my high school classes with 'typing' speeds far in excess of what I am capable of. The difference? I use a qwerty keyboard on a laptop; they use T9 predictive text on a mobile phone.
I think it is very likely that, one day, someone will decide to leverage young people's proficiency with numeric keyboards and predictive text technology to deliver a device which will have a good chance at displacing the qwerty keyboard as the default for keyed input.
Imagine a predictive text device with a numeric keypad, a very small LCD, and Bluetooth.
Internal flash memory would store user dictionaries and preferences (which could be uploaded via Bluetooth to a PC for backup or transfer to another device). No need for a USB or memory card port.
It presents itself to the world as a regular Bluetooth keyboard.
Something like this may or may not already exist. If not, I wonder if it would be up Nokia's alley? Evolutionary Human Technology?

Freedom mini keyboard was working okay on 770 but with N800 it does not work. On 770 bt-keyboard application connected immediately to Freedom mini kb, but N800 is asking PIN to access keyboard. And Mini kb does not support PIN authentication.
Freedom mini keyboard must be setup as discovery mode (pressing Link key 5 seconds) and then it will be found. But authentication does not work. Any idea to skip that (it does not help to type same pin code)?
With my Linux laptop it works without playing with PIN.
So now I'm selling my excellent small sized keyboard (uk-layout)! And of course I'll have drivers for Nokia phones.
Sad, but true - it does not work with N800.

It isn't true!!
When the tablet ask a pin code,
insert only a digit like 0,it's shorter to insert,
then on the freedom mini press together the keys "123-num" and "0", finally press "ENTER" key and they will magically connected :-P
From the freedom nini's support site
Otherwise, there are some problems with the layout becouse the key 123-num is seen as menu-key, so you can't use easly numbers and symbols!
How to change the layout?
