Feedback -- 2 ways

Feedback for internet tablets and maemo

So we are getting feedback. It’s coming through maemo.org, through our 770 feedback channel, through blogs etc. Thank you! Sorry, I cannot comment them all.

The feedback seems to fall into three major categories
1) Hardware
2) Applications
3) System

Hardware
There are various hardware improvement ideas ranging from “expandability” through “connectors to the side” to the all famous “more memory & speed”. The ideas of expandability make a lot of sense but they’d easily contradict with a durable and affordable device. Screen protectors, charging cradles, separate in-box keyboards, etc would also increase the price, although they are good ideas, too. On the other hand, we already put a charger into the box, unlike some others who sell it separately, eh eh ;-).

But now, the hardware is what it is. We’ve got a gorgeous screen, a pretty good size (not too big – not too small), the device is tough and solid, and the price is right. Yes it is. You’ll see new hardware coming from Nokia in the future, but let’s now use the hardware we’ve got. We try hard to get enough units built, and get them to you.

Applications
At the application side, there is a very loud group of e-Book fans. I promised to Roger to try e-books and form my own opinion. E-Books have never been in my radar screen, so I’m trying now. Too early to say anything.

Then, what comes to internet calls and instant messaging – you’ll have them in the next major release later this year.

Other suggestions include PIM, more games, voice recorder, presentation editors, etc. A lot of people are working on those already, including open source based and commercial stuff. So let’s see what happens with them. But really, we are not really building your average PDA here.

System
I don’t think we’ll abandon X.

For more memory and speed, we’ll work with the software to try to improve the performance. We already had tested swap idea similar to those already presented, but there are still many issues there. We are not sure at all if that is the way to go. Also, let’s remember that a 770 is not your regular PC. So comparing a 770 to your latest laptop makes no sense what comes to memory and speed. But I agree that there is room for improvement there.

Our goal is to make internet tablets good internet citizens. All major internet use cases should be easily performed. Therefore, all kind of input related to this goal are carefully studied. We need to put things in priority order and keep on working.

For all kinds of ideas, there is a lot of discussion happening at maemo mailing lists, too.

Feedback from me
We all agree that we need to improve software – not only for Nokia’s internet tablets but for all Linux and open source based systems. In addition to us geeks, we need to attract a wider audience, and get our stuff to regular users. I claim that this one of the biggest challenges for the entire open source movement.

There is no doubt that open source can produce good quality software. Just think about Linux or Apache, for example. But simplicity, usability, and end user appeal – I don’t know. GNOME, Ubuntu and others are happening, but we've got a long road ahead of us. Therefore, I was really happy to get some 770 feedback from Alan Cox: “What is most impressive is that you've actually made a Linux system feel like a Nokia device -- not like a Linux device by Nokia”.

I encourage you all to work on your favorite applications. Share them as open source or distribute as commercial applications or services, like DejaDesktop, and please, publish you apps at maemo.org application catalog if you can.

But above all, have courage to publish a 1.0 version of your work– not just 0.1. Make it ready. Test it fully. Perform usability testing and fix usability bugs. Make your software works for your mom and dad. Seriously!

By the way
By the way, you can prevent pop-ups in the browser (tools-->settings-->plug-ins&scripts). Also, using the 4way button you can either scroll (keep the button down) or jump from link to link (press the button once). Also, we’ve do have dedicated hardware volume controls: while the video or audio player is on, the +/- button otherwise used as a zoom button works as a volume knob. …for those of you who didn’t know these.

Thanks for the update. My only feedback is product accessibility. I emailed Nokia Canada about the 770 last week and got back the reply:

"We are unable to disclose technical information on products that have not been released"

It hasn't been released? Canada is home of many linux developers ( including the annual Ottawa Kernel Symposium ). So - why the delay? I've got some cool ideas I'd like to try out, but makes it tough without the hardware. Even a estimate of availability would be nice. Thanks

Been enjoying my 770, but I have one Internet use case I'd really like to see supported. I use Pandora.com for internet radio - it's an amazing site if you haven't discovered it already. The 770 is the PERFECT device for the program, but unfortunately it won't run at the moment.

I recognize the flash requirements are steep, but that's my pie-in-the-sky use case.

I'd say my biggest gripe with the 770 is the PDF viewer. The screen is so crisp and clean, it's great for viewing PDFs. Unfortunately, navigating them is nearly impossible. If you zoom in on a page (some documents have large margins, so zooming in makes the text nicely sized while not losing any information), you can't change pages. At least, I haven't figured out how to do this. It makes reading books such as Lucene In Action very painful; zoom in, read, zoom out, switch pages, repeat. I wish pushing the down button while the page is all the way down would just go to the next page. Well, that's my complaint :)

Oh, and the other thing that really annoys me: with OS X's wireless config, you can have each individual wireless network auto-join when detected. With the 770, you need to choose the one you want to join automatically. Any others have to be manually selected after joining the primary network has failed. You can, of course, choose a different primary network from the control panel, but that's sort of a pain. Since I use my 770 at work and at home a lot, it would be really nice to have it automatically join both of those wireless networks.

My .1 eur:

"E-Books have never been in my radar screen, so I’m trying now. Too early to say anything."

I bought the 770 solely to replace my old ebook reading device. I'd been waiting for a device with a decent screen resolution for a while and seriously considered the Sony Librie but was put back by the DRM and Japan-only availability. I had to wait until FBreader came along
(Plucker is very limited, it's more intended for off-line websites than ebooks), and personally would have preferred the 770 have something for ebooks straight out of the box. I don't know how mainstream ebook reading actually is, I read about 40-60 ebooks
a year (on an Ipaq since '00).

As an ebook reader (with FBReader) the 770 is excellent, only improvements would be better battery life (who doesn't want this, eh?) and screen readability in direct sunlight. My (t)rusty Ipaq 3630 excelled in sunlight readability.
This is obiviously a must-have on a beach holiday or on warm summerdays lounging in the backyard.

"By the way, you can prevent pop-ups in the browser (tools-->settings-->plug-ins&scripts)."
Desktop version of Opera has the possibility of user-defined URL filters (Via .ini file modification, like AdBlock on Firefox), which I tried on the 770.
It didn't seem to work, but being able to block out URLs (or parts of) would be a killer feature for a handheld. It'd be possible to block flash/jscript/etc on often
visited sites or known ad-sites, thus speeding up page loading and consuming less memory. I have no idea if parsing through a large URL filter file would slow down web surfing experience too much.

Oh, now that I'm on my soapbox, would it be possible to add "Close window" button on the webbrowser taskbar? Going through menu steps is a pain :)

"I don't think we'll abandon X"

With regard to X, this is all you have to do - to not abandon it. X is critical to the long term usefulness and value of this device and its successors. If you keep X then developers and users will be able to gradually discover the use and value of this device type as the key to network-driven collaborative software experiences. Since no such device has ever existed before it's no surprise that virtually no such software exists. Now that you've brought some water and seeds into the desert the gardens can begin to grow.

Hi! Try to keep pressed the "return" button several seconds. It close the window. Also, keeping pressed the home button gives you a task switcher.
But anyway, I'd rather prefer to have a "close window" button on the browser too.

Thank you for the feedback Ari, it is great to know that we are being heard and some of our suggestions are being considered.

The three main things I'd like to see improvement on are
1) Better AJAX support. I use Google Reader as my news aggregator, and it is frustrating to find that it doesn't work. Google Maps/Google Local are very handy tools as well, especially being able to access them while being mobile, and they don't seem to work either.
2) Better Flash support.
3) Being able to define filters in the browser. I'm a big fan of Adblock for Mozilla, and I would love to see similar features in the browser on the 770. Some have mentioned editing the .hosts file in order to block some of the sites, but this is a tedious process, and requires root access as well. By filtering some of the ads on the web pages, we can definitely reduce memory and processor usage on the device.

All that said, I love my 770. This is a great device, and I use it all the time. Keep up the good work.

Why on earth doesn't the clock have a NZ time zone? I know you don't sell the thing down here but that's not to say we don't have them (I had a friend in the US buy and send it down to me) and I would like to set the damn clock :)

In regard to expansionists to the hardware one throw away idea came up and that was to make a rsmmc with half of the space flash memory and half some form of ram. This would enable a fast swap drive. This idea may be impractical or expensive but I am just throwing it out there. The other idea is to make a sliding cover that has a keyboard included in it with a battery and a female USB A socket. Another accessory to make the usb port a host that can be bought off the shelf should be made with the ability to control the host slave behavior from the tablet gui as well.

Both of these ideas can be made by third party developers or nokia, but most importantly they don't require changes to the 770 its self. For the cover with keyboard idea it would have some bulk to it so if the user wanted to they could slide there 770 out when they wanted to travel lite.

You should be able to click on the USB plug icon and select host or slave if you had some ability to add newly installed applications into the menus such as games and utility that would be nice. on my PC i run Firefox and I frequently hit the shortcut keys “ctrl +” and “ctrl -” to scale the font up and down but i have no interest in scaling the images. I would like to be able to choose to scale the images or just the text when using the browser.

Also, we’ve do have dedicated hardware volume controls: while the video or audio player is on, the +/- button otherwise used as a zoom button works as a volume knob

It would be really useful if the +/- volume control worked in the audio player while the cover is on - once the cover is replaced while music is being played (from media card) the hard buttons are disabled. Track skip forward/back buttons would also be useful - could the zoom and power buttons serve this function while the cover is on and audio is playing (when audio is not playing, the buttons should be disabled!)

Also - being able to specify the default clock format would be useful. If I choose English (UK) as the language I get a 12 hour clock, but if I choose Netherlands as language I get a 24 hour clock... this is nuts as my preferred clock format is not region dependant! I want to view my time in 24 hour format, in the UK - but cannot. :(

Crazy idea - is it possible to manufacture rs-mmc cards with a mixture of Flash and DRAM (say 512Mb + 64Mb) memory on a single card, allowing swap to created on the DRAM partition and persistent storage in the Flash partition?

Thanks for your blog - really cool to see Nokia communicating with their users!

Flash/DRAM combo - you stole my idea Robert Kelly (maybe I should learn to type faster!) :)

A combined Flash/DRAM card could have some very interesting uses...

Here's some more feedback (I just submitted it on the nokia page too):

Applications:

- The only app that really doesn't work as shipped in my opinion is email - not once have I succeeded in viewing my IMAP mailbox. I'd be happy with even a small subset of my IMAP folders, but no dice.

- The application installer is currently a bit simple. It works, so that's good, but using apt-get (with an adequate frontend) would just be fantastic.

- The browser's definitely excellent, but I'm still hoping for something lighter. I'm hoping the gtk-webcore based browser will work even better (lighter/faster/better), but I do realize opera is very, very good and will probably be hard to beat. I sometimes wish for a better zoom.

- And yes, in the end I do believe PIM functionality is quite important. No matter how you phrase it: this is a PDA. A Personal Digital Assistant, a palm, a handheld, a handtop - whatever. It's pretty much the same market as a zaurus or an ipaq, but thanks to the superb screen it allows you to actually browse decently (!). That doesn't mean however that I don't need PIM functionality though - I'm currently using "Notes" to make note of appointements/hours/addresses/etc.

Anyway, everyone who saw my 770 concluded (after my explanation of what it could do), that it was a PDA with an excellent screen ;-)

- The Internet Radio Application is nice, but how do you delete "AccuRadio HitKast" :) Every time I delete it, it returns.

- The newsreader works. However, because you need a browser to actually read the news properly, and because of the switching delay I mention later (and start-up delay too of course), I tend to not use it at all.

- The Movie player works. It's a shame about the hardware (speed: fps and movie dimensions) limitations but chances are you'd have to transcode them anyway for size reasons. Ogg container support would be nice though. Subtitle support too.

- I'm missing a tiny app to send and receive SMS's with. I think I'd be faster with the 770 than with my phone.

- the "Home" page. Not sure about this. It depends on future home page applets. Maybe a custom web/html page would have been better? Or something like OSX's widgets?

- the "Clock" is missing an alarm. Playing an MP3 or even the radio at a certain time would have been nice.

System:

- General stability is what I'd expect from a 1.0 product. Decent enough.

- Bootup speed is adequate, especially considering I rarely need to reboot.

- System speed - I have little complaints about the speed in general. The only thing that bothers me sometimes are the "pauses" when switching apps - it would be good if there was still some interactivity at that point, instead of me wondering if the system just crashed.

- There are some stability issues when restoring your settings after a firmware flash. I've found that doing a completely clean reflash and setting everything up manually fixed things. It would be nice if we could trust the backup tool.

- Connectivity - I haven't tried packet data connections yet, mainly because GPRS/data plans here in .be cost an arm and a leg (it's ridiculous). Data calls were straightforward to set up and use. Wireless LAN works perfectly. WPA support is there, and reception is really good. Maybe the only tiny thing is that I'd like a choice of idle times between 10min and 60min.

UI:

- The fonts are excellent imho, also thanks to the very high DPI of the screen.

- I'm not very fond of the look in general, though I hear others do - in any case, I'm sure a theme will pop up that makes it the look more palatable for me.

- I often find myself wishing the toolbar on the left edge of the screen would just DIE (even though fullscreen functionality is available); some buttons are app launchers, but can act as menus too - others are "active" apps i.e. a task list. Then there's another task list (">>") which includes "home" (not visible in the first task list). It just feels very inconsistent. I really hope that area of the screen is rearranged at some point.

- about the app "working area": there's a big gap between the scrollbars and the edges of the window. Then there's another gap/border between the program's window and the screen edges. I'm guessing the first is a bug (and will be fixed eventually), and the second is intentional, for aesthetic reasons. I personally find the second a bit unnecessary, but I guess I could live with it.

- The app "toolbar" (where f.e. the back/forward buttons and location input reside in the browser) suffers even more from these inconsistent gaps. I personally find these gaps ugly, and annoying: even though we're not using a mouse, fitt's law with respect to screen edges still applies - using the edges to stabilize the stylus while driving/train/walking/... would surely help.

- Input is quite good actually. I really like the predictive input. Handwriting recognition doesn't work for me at all, but I've seen other people have no problem with it. I should try the "teach" functionality once. Bluetooth HID input would be good to include by default. Switching input methods could maybe be one or two clicks less. (1 or 2 instead of 3)

- the top edge toolbar is ok in my opinion: there's a clear separation between the notification area, the menu, the close/minimize buttons. The notification area applets themselves are very clear and functional too. The battery applet could give some extra information, maybe.

Hardware:

It's almost perfect for my needs. Size is ideal, weight is there, it feels "solid", and it has a good protective cover. If I would propose changes, they'd be in this order of preference:

1) more/faster RAM; to buffer storage access better, have more headroom active app wise etc etc.
2) faster CPU/DSP - for more audio/video codec support, higher resolutions, better frame rate, better game support.
3) compactflash (or even an expresscard) instead of RS-MMC - iirc compactflash is faster and more versatile than RS-MMC.
4) 2D/3D graphics acceleration - opengl ES on a system like that would be pretty sweet. The UI could in general be more animated and resolution independent, the flash plugin could make use of it, GPS/GIS routing apps could also benefit, and games of course too.
5) More storage.
6) Ability to pull out the stylus when closed (was this intentional?)
7) Possibly a button on the right for using two hands without stylus (gaming would be a classic example)

Nokia Support:

It's really unclear what versions of the firmware images are the right one for me - the maemo version, the nokia ones, others...? A list of what's included would be good - is the Opera web browser included in the maemo firmwares? Are there changelogs somewhere?

Ideally we'd be able to apt-get upgrade the entire system, but I understand that that may not be possible (esp. when it comes to the kernel/boot loader and base system).

Also, I don't think you can unpack the nokia images in Linux. (I guess you can flash them, but you need Windows to unpack them iirc)

I have spent 120 euros buying a bluetooth keyboard with spanish layout for updating my blog when I'm travelling... and it doesn't work. Well, I can type in normal characters, but the Nokia 770 doesn't understand the special spanish characters (ñ,accents, and so on). Also Opera doesn't allow me to write numbers in the textareas. So, it's pretty useless for blogging.

However, I'm still in love with this Nokia device, and I will keep using it, as an ebook reader :)

What the device really needs is a team of 5 or 6 nokia members porting LOTS of software to the 770. Not only the BIG packages, but any software that can be ported: emulators, games, network utilities, office programs... whatever. For each program ported, lots of new potencial users can be interested in the device.

I'm a windows programmer, so I'm unable to port even a 'Hello World' program to a Nokia 770, althought I'm able to make any kind of software for a Windows Mobile thanks to Windows Visual Studio... any possibility for a similar developer framework?

Just because you felt confident enough to write a whole chapter here after you have already written it at the Nokia web site doesn't mean that you should have. Ari has specifically asked that you DON'T use his blog to do such a thing. The more you ask for the less likely you are to get anything. The fellow who talks the 'loudest' isn't the one who's going to be heard. I suggest you move over to ITT and start your own forum.

You and your friends don't understand the 770 if you think it's just a PDA, like an ipaq, with a state of the art display. It makes no sense for you to try to convince the world that this is all the 770 is. You'll just bore us if you continue to attempt to do that.

OK. I'll keep it short.
Points I'd like to see addressed:
1) stable wifi connections (bug 329 on bugzilla)
2) xmodmap for the nokia BT keyboard. Do you really expect us to type E-mail on the screen?
3) Better PDF viewer with fast text-only mode and portrait display. The solution for E-books (e.g. Xpdf for the zaurus).

I agree that wireless management needs to be addressed. The icon on the main screen should list all available networks, security status and have the ability to auto-connect to multiple APs. A screen to view my DHCP settings would be a real bonus!

Chris Murphey mentions pandora, and he is right, it would be a perfect application on the Nokia, but is doesn't work. Pandorra says it works with Flash 6 (Version 6.82 is in the Nokia), and it starts.. but I'm afraid that memory is the problem. Maybe better to ask Pandorra to create a "light" version.

Someone mentions the PDF viewer, also one of my biggest "use cases". One problem is navigation. Works great if there is no horizontal scrolling, you can just use the left/right buttons. When zoomed in to the correct size (needed to get rid of those ugly white margins when zooming to page width) these buttons don't work anymore. What I do is pressing with the styles (or my finger) on the screen, the menu is displayed and you can select next page (even with your finger if needed, so you can do stylus-less reading!). But I really would like an improved PDF viewer with the option to display in text-width (without margins).

Some people mention Flash. A new version of Flash is on the way, Flash 8.5. It has beter memory management and better performance due to aJIT compiler available in the player. Problem is that it is packaged with the Flash 8 virtual machine. So dual virtual machines are supported, giving larger memory needs. Maybe the two virtual machines can be seperatedso Flash 8.5 applications could run separately. This would provide a great development platform. The performance of the current Flash implementation is a bit of a dissapointment, I think this can be really improved.

But overall I'm really amazed by this device! I use it everyday, it has exactly the functionality I want. And with all the open source efforts it's getting better and better!

Since the feedback page doesn't seem to allow others to see the posted feedback except for Nokia, I thought I would highlight my comments here (including some additions):

1. Need application level interaction between BT enabled phones and N770. This would make it more convienient to shuffle between internet browsing with the N770 and voice calls (via BT headset). GPRS/Edge (and other cell networks) support mobility better than 802.11. If Nokia provides integration with their GPRS/EDGE BT-phones and N770, it would appeal to the mobile user community, where the N770 and BT phone integration could dominate. At home or office, the N770's value added is not that significant as its primary advantage (ratio of size and display rez) is less significant in a less mobile environment IMO.

2. Is there a way to turn off the screen without using the cover and not shutting down the unit?

3. Need file encryption or encrypted virtual disk

4. Saving internet content to subdirectories doesn't alway work. Many times, it forces the save to the default "Documents" folder even after choosing a different folder.

5. Add a copy option in addition to Move when copying items between RSMMC and internal memory. Sure, this can be done using XTerm. But that takes time.

6. The DC-4 adapter is listed as an accessory in the Nokia site. However the output voltage for the DC-4 is 5.7V compared with 5.0V for the AC charger shipped with the device. Does this voltage difference damage the N770?

Thanks!

Resources like this are great, and as I am a new 770 owner I can't begin to express my thanks for the support around this device. I think we are finally getting close to a truely convergent device. With that said I do have my 2¢'s to add.
1) How about a faster handwriting language (like Jot, used on some handhelds, this way much less processor time is spent trying to learn how each individual writes). Teh characters are already defined, and easy to write quickly with.

2) Not being a Linux user, I am having a very hard time trying to connect to an Infrant NAS device connected to my internal network. The NAS does support a number of protocols including HTTP/S, NFS, CIFS, etc.. (info at www.infrant.com)

Bought one yesterday, some feedback about features that would be nice:

The option to put the vertical scroll bar on the other side (for left handed people). I did find the holding down directional pad works, as well as dragging on areas of the website that are not links. Still though, for precision scrolling, I would like to be able to do it without blocking the screen with my hand.

Agree about the flash support needing a bump up. - Also, in that vein, would be cool to be able to run .swf and shockwave straight from memory card - could be a boon to the games available.

Ability to choose between stretch or tile when using a smaller picture on home screen background. (If I could use a pic at about half the rez, and stretch it, I shouldn't tax the memory as much.

Multiple default networks. - Would be nice to bring it to work and home and have it just connect auto to both.

Ability to install/Run apps off memory card. - use available as well for "swap file" in the interest of performance(Basically share a lttle better).

Firmware upgrades with option to not wipe out all your stuff.

Ability to see where the battery is in the charge while charging.

Opera update to include better inherent pop-up blocking without turning off all scripting. - also, bookmarks in cascading menu available from full-screen view

Option for Graffiti-like instead of "real" handwriting recog

All for now.

How close is the relationship between the 770 development team and Nokia cell phone team?

It would be great if Nokia positioned/optimized one of their cell phones for use with Nokia 770 withour any of the overlapping features.

Better yet, if Nokia could come up with a complete package:
Nokia 770, Nokia Cell Phone, Nokia BT keyboard, Nokia GPS receiver lets say for $500-$600.

Wouldn't that be nice?

It's been a long wait for a blindingly obvious product: a portable wireless internet terminal.

Sorry if this repeats some of the shortcomings already highlighted:

1. simple, easy keyboard support, either bluethooth and/or USB.

2. a simple stand to support the screen when typing as some keyboards can't or won't support a device this weight.

3. either larger memory or expansion slot that can support 4GB or larger RAM modules.

4. reasonable size RAM would comfortably support stripped down office software, PIM, etc.

Think I'll wait for the product to mature or the following on.

Thanks.

The device is really sweet. The one major thing that's bugging me about it right now is that if I put it in the protective case, so that I can put it in my pocket, it goes to sleep, and the audio player stops. So I can't listen to audio without either carrying it around in my hand or exposing the screen to the environment in my pocket. I don't know if this is a hardware thing or a software choice. I can understand the choice - you don't want to burn down your batteries by forgetting to turn off the audio player - but it would be nice to be able to override this with a preferences setting or something.

Form factor is correct.

Fix the performance. Users are not going to tolerate slow performance for Flash and Video.

Sort out the RAM, Nand vs. Nor Flash, swap partitions, etc. tradeoffs and come up with hardware that can do the job.

Then let the community build the software.

That is all you must do to make this the next million units seller.

Microsoft's Origami is wrong form factor. 7" screen is too big to be pocketable and too small to be acceptable general productivity. A 12" fully powered notebook (e.g. iBook) only costs $1000.

So all Nokia needs to do is give us extremely reliable hardware.

Reliability is a big factor. Here is some research I did comparing Mac Mini and iBook to rest of PCs.

I am sick & tired of Windows notebooks failing at about 1 year. Happened with a Compaq, a Sony, and a Dell. And I am very careful with them, never dropped, etc.

(1) The Mac Mini is most reliable computer in
world by far at only 3% failure rate, and best warranty service:

http://www.macintouch.com/reliability/#results

(2) Even Sony and IBM have > 15% failure rate:

http://www.pcmag.com/image_popup/0,1871,s=26527&iid=84014,00.asp

(3) And notebooks are even worse, with a typical 20% failure rate (except
for Sony and Apple which are < 10%), because if any part (other than
keyboard) fails, then entire unit is useless (as per my Dell Inspiron). Whereas,
with Mac Mini, you only replace the part that has failed (e.g. keyboard,
Mac Mini, or monitor):

http://www.pcmag.com/image_popup/0,1871,s=26527&iid=84013,00.asp

(4) When you add the Software Reliability factor (which is > 25%, except
for Apple Mac < 10%) to the Hardware Reliability factor above, then total
reliability of most computers becomes > 40% failure rate:

http://www.pcmag.com/image_popup/0,1871,s=26527&iid=84022,00.asp
http://www.pcmag.com/image_popup/0,1871,s=26527&iid=84021,00.asp

Whereas, Apple Mac Mini has total reliability in 10 - 15% range.

You really ought to help develop and package the GPE-Pim suite for arm. Sync with Outlook/Evolution/iCal over BT for tasks, calendar, and address book could be a killer app for the 770.

You need to have a daily appointment schedule, daily todo lists, and a master todo list. The to-do lists should have optional priority and estimated time to completition fields. The calendar needs to support recurring events and different classes of appointments (a personal calendar and a business calendar).

This addition would open up the 770 to be more than the toy it starts out as and more like the business tool it could (should) be. And everyone knows that the most money is to be made selling shit to enterprise and not to us lowly singular selves. :-)

My other suggestions would be:
-better web support (javascript, flash)
-client side PIM sync for all platforms (sync with outlook on windows, ical on mac, evolution on linux)
-include Rythmbox in the default install. Who wants to carry a 770 *and* an ipod???

I find it amazing you're getting all this feedback, but still proceed to release the 2006-13-7 firmware in the US when there are numerous reports on the web about how broken this firmware is. You've just set yourself up for a large number of support problems, which you could have avoided by fixing the problems after the European release.

Basically, your QA guys need to be fired as you've managed to release the firmware with only one timezone - Helsinki.

Not only does this show how poor Nokia 770 QA is, it also goes to show that you are NOT listening to feedback otherwise I feel sure you would have rapidly released 2006-13-8 in order to fix the broken timezone functionality.

You want feedback? It's a two way street - the feedback is out there, just make sure you act upon it next time.

"Slaving For Peanuts-vs-Graving For Walnuts"

Let me tell you a story about me..............................Carael Knight
(TRUE STORY........)

When I first started building my company, MajorEnterprise,
I had started at the bottom. For years, I had worked SO hard "busing-my-hump" for a worthless salary. I mean
No Benefits At All........................................What kind of stability is this? And now, that I look back, the only thing
that comes to mind is, "Man, I worked for some complete "Dummy's" (a.k.a "Bosses.").

The majority of "J-O-B-S" that I have ever worked, I been fired from. I have never been really good at
working for somebody else. I guess one of the main reasons would be that they knew I was humble. Or maybe they
feared me being so intelligent that I would possibly take over the company or something.

They would say stuff to me like "your not being productive enough" or "we need
to talk about your work ethics". It had been times where I wanted to literally laugh in there face! Why? Well, one reason
would be...........................................

1. I have been commented on my "work performance" so much that it would feel strange NOT to be questioned about my work ethic.

2. What benefit will it be to me if I worked "twice as hard" and doubling my workload for still the same pay rate???

3. If I was to get a raise on a "J-O-B", it wouldn't be much because most "J-O-B-S" only give a person cents on the dollar.

4. In life, if I work hard at something, I would rather "bust-my-hump" doing something I love to do rather than wasting my time doing something to make another man richer!

A lot of people won't tell you these things because there "scared" that they may get laid off or have someone think
differently about them. But as for me, I'm my own individual. I'm taking the gloves off! I'm taking a stand to let any individual that feels
like there isn't hope, know that if I can be successful, so can you! Hear my clear, "The only way to truly be happy in life and be successful
is to do what interest you"! Find your niche. Get out and explore new things and opportunites. Find something that you love to do and pursue it.
"NEVER, EVER, EVER, GIVE UP". This is one of the formulas of success! I've always looked at things in clear view in terms of business and personal
finance.

MajorEnterprise

The road was never easy for me but if there are people out there that have overcame hardships ten times as worst as mine, then this should be
a piece of cake for me! That's how I've always looked at it. This is the game of life. Just because a person starts ahead in the race doesn't mean that he
will always finish first. Statistics show that just about every person who is "self made" had to start from the "bottom of the barrel" and "work there way up the ladder". You can too. Being successful and become a shining star in life is not going to be easy "BUT" it isn't impossible either......................................

This has been my true story that I felt I should share with the world..........................................................................

"A Person Never Understands The Sun, Until They've Came Through Rain"........................................Carael Knight

Information powers our world. The more information you have, the more money you make. It used to be you had to go to an expensive business school or spend years becoming a doctor or lawyer to have valuable information people would pay big money for.

Not anymore. Today ANYONE can use FREE classified ads to sell information demanded daily by MILLIONS of people. Think about it. These days when somebody wants to know how to do something, they GO ONLINE and look for INFORMATION to tell them how to do it.

My name is Carael Knight. I started Major Enterprise about seven years ago with a vision and a plan.

The vision was to show people how to start, run, and operate their own profitable online business. Now that led me to create the plan, which was the process of carrying out the vision!

There is alot of debate whether you can Make Easy Money Online and with so many scams out there it is bound to be a little bit dishearting!

So are there any legit ways to Make Easy Money Online?

Well, Yes you will be glad to know there are legit ways to Make Easy Money Online the only thing is all of them require hard work!

I know there are websites out there that claim you can become a millionaire overnight but if you think about it this is just not plausible!

That said with a bit of work on your part you will be suprised how easy it is to Make Easy Money Online and you should start off by searchnig for more info on Google and maybe join a few groups with like minded people!

If you really want to know how to Make Easy Money Online I would suggest investing in this manual, but only if you are serious as they will give you the keys to the door but you must open it so to speak!

One guide I would recommend that was created by an internet marketing genius, Carael Knight that made it big is called "How To Get Rich Selling Information Through Classified Ads"!

Since I was young I always had an ambition to become wealthy. This was not just for the sake of being wealthy, but because I saw what a struggle money was for so many people around me.

The Internet Marketing Genius, Carael Knight

Not knowing where to start on actually making money, I went to college and got a Business Degree. After graduation, I went straight into working in the financial industry only to find that I did not like putting in long hours even for the substantial starting salary.

Who Wants To Be A Internet Millionaire

I know most people would've been happy with what I was making, but the truth is that I had no free time. To me having my time was more important then having more money. I knew there had to be a way to have both so I started looking for other ventures outside of the traditional workforce.

I tried several different things and ended up making the most on eBay. I juggled my full time job and eBay for nearly a year until I was making enough online to quit my job and pay my bills.

I started to live the life. eBay was growing and actually started to make me more money then what I had been making at my "professional" job.

The Internet Marketing Genius, Carael Knight

Tip:

Most "Real" home based online money making businesses has to have "Proof of Earnings" to back up what they say right? Well...............

See My Earnings Here!

I don't just "talk the talk", I "walk the walk" and can back up everything that I'm telling you. Look at it this way, if you make "ONLY" a measely $274 a day, that about $100,000 a year! Think about it.

The Internet Marketing Genius, Carael Knight

$274 A Day = $100,000 A Year

I don't know about you, but this is amazing to me when you really think about it!

If the truth be told I should be selling this system for hundreds of dollars because of how confident I am with this manual. Initially I offered it for $299 and was able to sell the program very successfully.....................

I recently stumbled on on a powerful money making manual of how a disabled mother of the U.S. Army Went From $0 - $12,000 / Month in 4 Months Flat! She knows here stuff. I bought the manual myself and it has helped me increase my sales ratio by 500 percent!

Carael Knight

Holly Mann shares with you a money-making secret that made $100 within two hours of implementing it. It really is a powerful method. It's a different way to make money online - costs you nothing in advertising and would not be considered "work." You will be surprised how easy it is.

SEE EARNINGS HERE

For those of you who do NOT have a website, she provides detailed information telling you exactly how to make money through affiliate programs with no site, no advertising costs and very little "work." It's something you could profit from by putting in only an hour to two hours per day - and you can start making money with these techniques right NOW.

Do you want a Professionally Designed, FREE website right away so you can pull in even more money? If you would like to have a website but aren't experienced with designing and maintaining sites and all else that is involved, she tell you exactly how to get a FREE website setup within 5 minutes with NO costs whatsoever. Plus, you never have to pay for hosting and you don't need any real web design experience.

Also, for the advanced internet gurus and entrepreneurs - you will increase your earnings after you read this e-book, "guaranteed". You will discover new ways to increase your revenue like I did and many other different techniques that you never thought of trying. Her strategies are proven successful and are highly profitable.

Carael Knight

You don't have to spend a dime on advertising anymore. Keep 100% profits. Not only is it possible (also, see proven success stories......) but it is feasible if you follow the steps in her manual. She provides more detailed information about different money making techniques with and without a website and low-cost and FREE advertising and site promotion.

The Internet Marketing Genius, Carael Knight

She also provides a DETAILED guide to Search Engine Optimization - What to do and how to do it - giving you the exact information about how to get ALL of your websites to the top 5 position of EVERY search engine! I've also noticed that EVERY SINGLE website she have optimized for her specific keywords has reached the top 1-5 ranking - EVERY ONE TO THIS DAY!!! SEO is the single most important tool in making money online because without site visitors - your internet venture is worthless.

She will share the secret to how she doubled her website's revenue within a month by implementing a search engine positioning technique (which only took three hours to do). And she will tell YOU exactly how you can do it too.
