Flash 9 is a great suprise!

I hope the next focus shifts to rendering speed (scrolling tearing) and Opera 9 :)

So many users are reporting new bugs. Very unfortunate.

Still, it is good to see progress being made.

thank you for fixing the deteriorating touchscreen sensitivity issue, it was killing the device for me. Now all is good.

Is there anything new in the firmware that justifies the update/restore procedure? (What I mean is on the OS level, not applications.)
Users so far haven't reported any visible improvements.

The much improved responsiveness of the touch screen and the longer battery life is a great step forward.

Actually I am very happy with the new SW release and I hope that your good work will continue!

(It looks like the first comment here is spam.) The new OS is great and Youtube works beautifully!!
Unfortunately the browser still crashes at times. I like to work with as many browser windows (and tabs) open as possible but this browser is crashing with only a few or even one window open. It is still a very usable device but it would be nice to have the stability rock solid before adding frilly bells and whistles like Skype and Flash although I realize that is what your silly users are whining about.
For a future device, it would be nice if we could just use a standard Linux distribution. If not, I am looking forward to screen rotation, one-handed operation, a Firewire or RJ-45 port, and a Psion Series 5mx-style keyboard. But even now, thank you for releasing the best computer on the market!
(I have a large Sandisk Extreme III SD card for the swap file (extended memory). I don't know how much of a difference that makes but the device feels fast)

Oh dear - what's with the N800's new firmware causing an alarmingly high number of SD cards to fall over and die?

Mine ran for over 2 months on the old firmware with the SDHC patch.

Less than 48hrs in with the new firmware and my card has followed an all too familiar path it would seem.

Come on Nokia - what did you do, how & when you gonna fix it and how do we go about getting all these trashed cards replaced?

I would just like to add that I too have found the Opera browser to be far less stable since the new firmware. It seems to happen mostly when I have a half-dozen browser windows open and when I close one it displays "application error" and all Opera browser windows will close - very annoying.

I hope that Nokia will release an emergency patch to fix these stability issues rather than roll it in the next planned firmware update that could be in several months?

I would like a device such as this that will allow me to run an external usb drive. Can this be done with the N800. Can the N800 mount a device and can I access a terminal through the interface.

I have the N800 running fine with the new upgrade. Flash 9 is a killer addition as well as Skype. This puts the machine in the real world.

I don't think only "silly users" look for this. It's a must to experience the web closer to a pc.

Congrats from Colombia!

Even MORE thanks to Skype when they get the N800 camera working. I got very excited about Skype until I realised the camera was a non-starter. As it is now, SIP is just as useful to me - but if they get the camera going....
